Expectations (song)

I don’t expect you to understand me,
that would be too much to ask for.
I don’t expect you to love me,
that would be something irrational.
I don’t expect you to need me,
‘cause you don’t even love me.

But I do expect you to respect me,
to respect me,
and to be man enough to tell me,
that you never understood me,
that you never ever loved me,
that you never even needed me.

I don’t expect you to hold me,
your arms are still to weak for me.
I don’t expect you to want me,
you still don’t know what you want.
I don’t expect you to believe in me,
you don’t even believe in yourself.

I only want yo to respect me,
to respect me,
and to be man enough to admit,
that you can’t be there for me,
that you don’t know what you need,
that you know what I say is real.

Yes, be a man and tell me so.
What are you afraid of?
You have nothing,
nothing to loose.
Just be honest for once,
be a man and tell me the truth.
